Though originally named Provemont that name was changedin 1924 to Lake Leelanau. The Village of Lake Leelanau has plenty of year-round residents as well as many summer residents that come here in the summer time. Locals, summer residents and tourist enjoy the scenic beauty, boating, fishing, shops and restaurants while surrounded
by cherry orchards, lake Leelanau and the Vineyards of local wineries.
Being centrally located, Lake Leelanau is a short drive to all Leelanau communities.
